We love having our cocktails here and there, atleast I do. If you are one that doesn’t, that’s a great healthy choice on your part. Drinking too much alcohol is not good, but having your occasional glass of rose or Pinot , isn’t going to hurt. I have some of my greatest concoctions that you can buy, or make to keep your health at optimal levels and still enjoy your favorite cocktails.

I have added these drinks to my daily regimen, and they really do make me feel great, especially if you drink them at the right time. If you are one that will make the drinks, it’s very important to use wholesome ingredients. I have ordered Pressed juicery drinks for about a year now, and I am completely hooked on them. It can be pricey, but they do add so much to your well being and state of health. They are made of wholesome ingredients, and does save you the time of making them daily. 

Here are the great concoctions to add to your daily regimen. They are perfect to make for anyone that does or does not drink,  due to the health benefits , and how they make you feel. They do add great protection to your health while drinking .

  • Drink a glass of warm water with fresh squeezed lemon every morning. This is perfect first thing in the morning to start that metabolism, and flush out toxins. It’s perfect on the liver. This should be your morning drink before anything else . 


  • Have you had one too many glasses of wine? Drinking coconut water before bed has shown to hydrate, and reduce the effects of a hangover. Coconut water is loaded up with potassium and other minerals that help you feel better the next morning. Go ahead and stock your fridge with your favorite coconut water. 


  • The next morning after having too many glasses, make you a shot of water with ginger, lemon , and cayenne. This completely starts the detox process. It’s a huge immune booster, and helps settles any type of upset stomach you may have. 


I could write another post on the effects of alcohol, and we all know that binge drinking is bad. You hear in the nutrition world everyday about “superfoods”. They are even adding in “superfoods” to the beauty products to add more benefits for your skin. I truly believe in them when it comes to your diet, and the way you eat. 

In my view, whole foods to me are superfoods. The ones that protect, benefit your health to a superb standard. The foods that can be added in on a daily basis to your meals, smoothies, juices, and so forth. I have a whole list of superfoods that I swear by, and live on daily. These superfoods include spinach, collard greens, kale, Aragula, and many more. I use these greens as my base. They are what ties all my juices and smoothies together. There are four though that I really feel benefit our health on the cellular level, due to their antioxidant level, as well as their vitamin and mineral levels. 

Dark Chocolate

Dark chocolate has so many antioxidants. Just eating one small piece a day has been known to decrease cholesterol, decrease diabetes, and helps protect our hearts. It also has fiber in it, and will help is feel full longer. It’s best to give yourself a small treat a day. 


Kiwi 

Kiwi has a been around for ages as one of the best fruits for your health. I love it because it has a high water content, and adds such a delicious taste to any smoothie or juice. It’s loaded with vitamin C, among other antioxidants. Removing the ends, you can even eat the skins. Kiwi and dark chocolate are the perfect duo. 


Avocado

I can’t get enough of avocados. I truly feel on some days, I eat them too much. I add them to everything, including my juices. You would think it wouldn’t taste good, but it taste amazing. It’s creamy, and loaded with vitamin C, fiber, potassium, and monosaturated fats. It adds so many health benefits. It’s best to add this to your everyday diet. 


Red peppers

These amazing vegetables are packed full of vitamin C, and great for any sinus problems. They are great added in to your salads, casseroles, sandwiches, and even soups. This is one amazing superfoods in my book. 


Try to add these in every day. You will be adding so many health benefits to your health, and keeping your health at an optimal level.

We all love sweets. Well at least I do, but I like the “healthier” versions. I like to bake quite often, and I like to bake healthy gluten-free cupcakes.  There are many ways to incorporate your favorite sweets into a healthier version . You use better quality ingredients with better substitutions. I recently found this wonderful recipe on Healthy Green Kitchen. It is a fabulous website. The website contains many great ,quality made recipes. I used this recipe to make birthday cupcakes this year, and they were a hit.

This Gluten-free cupcake recipe makes 16 cupcakes, and the Prep time is 15 min. The actual cook time is 25 min. You are more than welcome to use any flavor of frosting.

6 oz. egg whites ( room temp)

1/2 cup organic raw milk

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract ( buy a good quality kind)

6 oz. gluten -free flour

6 oz. organic sugar

1 tbsp. baking powder

6 oz. organic butter ( room temp)

  • Pre Heat the oven to 350 degrees. ( Butter or line the pans with cupcake liners)
  • In a medium bowl, combine the egg whites with 1/4 cup milk and vanilla. Set aside.
  • In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, combine the flours , sugar, baking powder together on low speed for 30 sec.
  • Add the butter and remaining 1/4 cup of milk. Mix on low speed until the butter has been incorporated. Increase to medium speed and beat for 1-2 min.
  • Scrape the sides of the bowl and add the egg mixture in 3 separate batches ,and beat on medium speed for 20-30 seconds after each addition.
  • Pour or scoop batter into cupcake liners and bake in preheated oven for 20-25 min. Make sure to use your cake tester. Let them cool on a cooling rack. Viola they amazing! the best cupcakes ever!

I know many of you love eating healthy, and you probably think that Pasta is horrible.  It doesn’t have to be if you find the healthy kinds. There are many great pasta’s out there of great quality. One of my all time favorites is made by ezekiel. If you love their bread, you will love their pasta. I personally do not eat pasta very often, but when I do , it is made of great ingredients and great quality. This recipe is wonderful for cookouts, gatherings, or even great made as a side dish with that perfect steak. You want to make sure you find good quality aragula, that is organic. The penne  can be found at any health food store in your area.

ARAGULA PASTA SALAD RECIPE

 

2 cups fresh organic aragula leaves

1 cup organic cherry tomatoes

1.5 cups organic penne pasta ( made of quinoa base)

1/2 cup organic olive oil & vinegar

1 tsp. chopped red pepper flakes

You want to start preparing your pasta, and with it being made of great ingredients, it will take a bit longer to prepare. Boil your pasta, and set aside. Place the aragula , and cherry tomatoes together, and place the penne pasta over it once it is done. Make sure it is drained accordingly. I like to add cucumbers to mine, organic of course, and can be sliced or diced. You can add any other vegetables to your salad. Add the dressing on top. This is wonderful with a great glass of red wine. This is approximately 220 calories per serving. food-plate-rucola-salad
