There are many ways of creating a healthy diet. The foods that you think you can’t live without is great in moderation, but making healthier choices is the key. I really take the time to look at the ingredients when I cook or bake to see if I can use another ingredient in it’s place that is healthier. There are many great swaps that you can do when baking or cooking your favorite meals. You will not be able to tell the difference.
Many recipes that we love require butter. It is one of the most unhealthiest ingredients that you can put in your body. I know they have come out with “healthy butters” that claim they are made of olive oil, or the base is full of omega fatty acids, but it’s still butter. Butter is high in saturated fats. Saturated fats will wreak havoc on your body , as well as your heart health. When my recipes require butter, I use low fat veggie mayo instead. I still, am yet to taste a difference.
I’m sure you have your favorite snacks that you like to graze on through the day. If you are a fan of granola bars, I’m here to tell you that they are sugar ridden. I like to make my own protein mix instead. I throw together some organic low fat popcorn with almonds. It is delicious. You can even add in some walnuts. Potato chips are another high popular snack that seems to take the world by storm. they are loaded with the worst oils that are toxic to your body. They are filled with MSG, which is the worst. MSG has been known to cause a variety of ailments, including cancer. I swap out any type of potato chips with Kale chips. Kale chips are delicious. You can buy them in garlic, black pepper, and many other amazing flavors. You are getting the health benefits of a super green.
Who doesn’t love ice cream? I know I do. Even though I have some ice cream every now and then, I buy frozen yogurt for the house. It doesn’t have as much sugar in it, and its a great probiotic. Probiotics are great for gut health. If you aren’t a frozen yogurt fan, try freezing your favorite fruit. We love frozen grapes. They are amazing as a snack. They have a lot of reservatol in them. Reservatol is known to help with the aging of cells in the body. There are so many amazing substitutions that you can do when cooking your favorite foods. It is going to turn out being even more delicious .
