Ways to prevent congestion in the body

Congestion can live in our bodies daily. It is another term that I love to use which mean inflammation. We all know that inflammation can wreak havoc on our health if we all don’t get a hold of it quick. It all means to prevent it. We were born to move daily. It doesn’t have to be extreme, but moving daily whether it’s walking , running or even biking is a great way to keep everything moving internally. The choices we make with our eating, moving, sleeping etc will help prevent congestion in our bodies. There is different types of congestion. It can be internally , which is the common things like high blood pressure, pain in areas of the body, or rapid heartbeat. Other kinds of inflammation can be change in skin, mood swings, fatigue, and an overall of not feeling the best. The decisions we make daily affect the internal feelings that we have . They can change how are bodies react on a daily basis. Here are some great ways to reduce congestion in our bodies and feel at the top of our game each and every day.

– Eat a healthy diet- this includes greens, superfoods such as Kale, spinach, and spirulina. Add in a wholesome juice each and everyday with your favorite superfoods in it. Make sure to blend in plenty of great vegetables along with fruits. Stay away from preservative filled foods and foods with horrible additives.

-Drink plenty of fresh water- water Is so important to our diet. It’s not only drinking It, but getting enough. Try to get atleast 8-8oz. Glasses a day. Water flushes toxins out of the body and helps to reduce inflammation. Add in some fruit or lemon to your water to give it a sweet taste.

-Add in some good herbal supplements daily. This gives your body balance and internalizes the proper levels inside the body. We all need good supplements if we aren’t getting it in our diet. Incorporating these tips daily will make your body , mind, and spirit feel amazing. That’s the goal is to keep our bodies at a more alkaline state.

Ways to get back in shape after vacation

Vacation is something we all love, and we should. It’s a time to unwind, eat delicious food, and drink our favorite cocktails. Enjoying our favorite things can put a dent into our fitness and diet regimen and can put on some extra unwanted pounds. If you are one that hits your vacation spots and finds a way to add in some fitness, that’s wonderful. If you don’t, there are ways to get back into shape once vacation has ended.

The last thing you want to do is fall off the band wagon like some people do. They go on vacation, eat bad food and drink highbrow calorie drinks, then get back and has lost motivation. Don’t let that happen. You will do your body no good. Here are my top ways to get yourself back in shape:

1. Eat at home- you just spent a whole week eating food from restaurants that is probably loaded up with some fats. It’s time to head to the store, stock up on greens, fruits, fish and good healthy protein and start making your meals at home. It’s healthier, and saves on the calorie intake.

2. Get motivated to hit the gym. Take your body back to the gym.  Start burning those calories. If you aren’t a gym person, try a great app like SWORKIT . It will literally burn the calories in no time. You can’t lose that motivation.

3. Give the alcohol up- Alcohal is full of unwanted calories. IF you are trying to get back in shape, give up your cocktails for a while. Give your liver a break. It just adds to the unwanted caloric intake.

4. Take in the water. Water is the best thing we can put in our bodies. It clears out toxins and helps with breaking down inflammation. Have a water bottle with you all the time.

Doing these proactive concepts to your everyday living will get your body back in shape. Strive for 30-45 minutes 4xs a week for workouts. You will feel great!

The amazing benefits of Oolong Tea

I am a huge tea drinker, and always have been. I’m not talking sweetened tea drinks with a bunch of crazy additives. I’m talking pure, and delicious teas that bring health benefits to you. Oolong tea, known as one of the most potent  rings good health. The tea which comes from the cameilla sinesis plant taste a bit between a green and black tea but with a high content of caffeine. It is recommended that only two cups be drank a day. A little more than that will have you flying from the ceiling. It is huge in China as well as Taiwan, and is big on fighting free radicals. The health benefits are priceless. It can help in the reduction of chronic health conditions such as Heart disease, and inflammatory disease. Those would include high cholesterol, high blood sugar. Oolong tea strengthens immunity like no other. It delivers amazing vital antioxidants and can help ward off those colds and flus. It helps to promote good bone structure and helps with good gum and dental health. The antioxidants ward off germs that come in contact with your gums and teeth. Drinking this daily has shown to ward off inflammation in the body. I know many of you frown at the fact of drinking hot tea, but honestly its one of the BEST drinks you can achieve for optimal health. Try replacing just one drink you have daily with a glass of oolong. It is easy to become drawn to something you do daily. If you are a drinker, I mean TEA, add some oolong. Drink your oolong

Yoga over Running.. Why I chose it

Running has always been something easy for me to do. You get up , grab your shoes and you go. I’ve always ran daily until I fell in love with yoga. It literally has changed my life. I still hit up my daily hiit class, but yoga Is amazing. The complete euphoric feeling you have when you feel like you just completed 50 downward dogs in 95 degree heat. The sweat drenching off your face may not be pretty, but it sure does feel amazing. I have become so obsessed that when I’m out of town in my favorite city of Chicago, I’m grabbing the next best class. Have I mentioned that hot yoga burns the calories? Running would always make my shins hurt, and I’ve realized that I’m not a spring chicken anymore, but I want to feel healthy and fit no matter what age I am. Yoga has given me more focus on my days. I’m more intuitive with the things and situations going on around me. It has made my core stronger. I feel my abs have never been more strong in my life. I’ve made amazing friends in my little yoga village. The amazing people that come in your life with such good mindsets is what inspires me. You realize the value of life , and the little things that are important. Yoga has given me that. To be perfectly honest, I don’t waste my energy on mindless people or negative energy any longer. It seems yoga has brought so much positivity around me. I make sure when I’m not in town, that I hit up the next amazing yoga class being taught. I’m even excited to try the rooftop yoga at the London House this month topped off with some Moët champagne. Yoga never gets boring, and it has made me grow in ways I never thought possible. I make sure I get my Namaste everyday!
