Three steps to get rid of Inflammation in the Body

Inflammation is a word that we really don’t like hearing. There is nothing good that comes from it. Inflammation can cause an array of health problems, anywhere from diabetes to being over weight. Long term inflammation can provoke many types of cancers, so its very important for us to keep our bodies healthy and happy for that matter. Stress is a huge component for inflammation in the body. The stress signals turn on in our bodies, and it can cause many health issues to arise over time. There are many factors that you can do in your daily life to reduce inflammation in your body, and get your body to a more balanced PH. When I say balanced PH, it’s important to keep our bodies alkalized. This all starts with eating a more alkalized diet.

  • Choose Organic when you can. I cant tell you enough how many pesticides are on food now days. You may think that its clean, no matter how many times you wash your fruit and veggies, but believe me, its NOT enough. Organic produce is so much cleaner and safer . It may be more expensive, but it’s well worth your health.
  • Try the 80/20 diet. This is exactly how I eat, and I never feel deprived. Eat 80 percent of your food from more alkalized foods such as greens, veggies, nuts, ect, and 20 percent from the foods that you think aren’t so healthy. If you know your going to a party and there will be some “party food” there, try to eat super healthy through the day, that way you can splurge a bit that night.
  • Choose veggies over anything else in your diet. Vegetables are very alkalizing, and they do contribute to optimal health. Try adding more veggies to your juices every day, and reducing your intake of white flour products such as bread, and horrible pastas. Pastas can be horrible for your diet if you are not buying the right kinds.
  • Take a multi vitamin every day, and a good one at bat. I love my whole food vitamin that I take very day. It is full of greens, mushrooms, and alkalizing supplements. It truly makes me feel so much better.
  • If you haven’t already, ADD your omega 3’s to your diet. I take a supplement, but you can get them from good fish. They really can help combat inflammation in the body.
  • Try exercising every day. Moving that body never hurt anyone. It truly is great for your health. Add in a class, or go for a run or walk.
  • Try meditation or yoga to reduce stress in your life. If you are feeling a bit stressed out, or feeling fatigue, these things can help significantly. Stress will increase the inflammation. Remember the saying : “STRESS WILL KILL YOU”. There is nothing good about it. Life is too short to stress. Enjoy your life every day! exercise is important

Top ways to get the Abs you want

We all have areas on our bodies that we want to improve from time to time, but one of the biggest feed backs I get from my followers is how to get more toned in the stomach. I have to say that abs are made in the kitchen!  I really mean that. What we eat on a daily basis is 75% of how we get the abs we want, and the other 25% is the workouts we do daily. The foods we choose to eat really makes the difference on how our bodies look . 

The abs are one of my favorite areas to work on. I love having a strong core, and I absolutely love working them in the gym, in my classes, or even doing my sit ups every night before bed. I will tell you that eating a diet high in fat, and drinking sugar drinks and too much alcohol will prevent those abs from forming. Here are some great ways to get the abs you want! 

  • Stay away from starchy carbs. These are NOT good for you. They do nothing but make you feel heavy, and do nothing for the abs you are trying to create. Keep your carb intake on the lower side. If you are doing heavy workouts, make sure you allow enough complex carbs in your diet, such as quinoa, brown rice, ect. 
  • Add plenty of protein into your diet. Protein is very important when creating abs. Add in plenty of fresh vegetables, greens, raw foods, organic eggs, protein powders when doing workouts. Protein is what helps our muscles grow, and helps with carving abs. Make sure you allow enough protein in every meal you make. 
  • Eat at home. Make your meals fresh, and stay away from the fat filled meals in restaurants. Making your own meals allows less fat in your meals, and you can keep track of the protein you are putting in your body. 
  • Make time to move everyday. Get your workout in everyday, and make sure you are burning fat, and calories. The more you move, the quicker the results. 

We all have abs. It’s whether we are working hard enough to get to see them! You can do it. It’s time, dedication, patience , and discipline! Start now!

I wanted to do a few posts this week on superfoods, and power greens because this is the time of season when we need to stay well through the cold months, and stay at the top of our game physically, and mentally. The weather months can drain you in so many ways, especially when it comes to your health, so I wanted to do some posts on what superfoods were, and why we should incorporate them into our daily diet. One of the superfoods that is one of my ultimate favorite is Spirulina. This super power green has so many advantages when it comes to staying healthy.

Spirulina is loaded with so many nutrients, and grows in both salt and fresh water. This green can be taken in either powder form or tablet form. The powder form seems to be more potent , in the aspect, of being able to mix it with a lot of different fruits and vegetables. You can even mix it with wheatgrass, and add to your daily green juice for more added benefits. The standard daily dose of spirulina is 1-3 grams daily. In this does, it contains 4 grams of protein , along with Vitamin b1 , Vitamin B2, B3, copper, omega 3, and omega 6, and iron. The quality of spirulina is on the excellent side, but you need to find a good brand , that either comes in powder form or tablet form.

Spirulina offers so many great health benefits. The anti-inflammatory properties are wonderful. This super green can fight off free radicals , and oxidative damage. It can lower your triglycerides, and lower your LDL, while raising your HDL. This green works at such a high level.

It appears to have anti-cancer properties as well. In many studies, it has shown to stop lesions of the mouth from forming and growing bigger. This is huge for anyone who runs the risk of any type of cancer.

Studies have shown that it can reduce Blood pressure. The minimum grams daily, can be mixed in a quick juice for those added benefits. High blood pressure is on the rise, and if any of you run the risk, or already have it, please look into taking the daily amount of spirulina. Always consult with your doctor first.

I hope all of you are getting up in the morning, and eating a healthy breakfast. You know you need that fuel for the day, and did you know that eating a good healthy breakfast prevents you from over eating through out the day? Research has shown that people who have shed weight over a years time, ate breakfast daily, without skipping out on the most important meal. An even better research statistic, they kept the weight off. People that have breakfast in the morning , didn’t overcompensate later throughout the day. If you decide that you aren’t going to eat breakfast, believe me when I say this, you WILL eat more through out the day, by snacking .


  • Did you know that eating a good healthy breakfast is good for your overall health? Studies have shown that eating breakfast every day decreased the risk of type 2 diabetes in women, because of the simple fact of limiting snacking later in the day.
  • Eating breakfast can really keep your energy going through out the day. If you are eating a breakfast high in fiber , and lower in the carb area, you will not get as tired as you would carbing up first thing in the morning. Try adding fruit to your oatmeal, or having some light greek yogurt with some fresh fruit. You will realize that you will feel so much energetic, once you have eaten a good breakfast.
  • Eating breakfast will allow you to consume more minerals and nutrients. You are getting more calcium and fiber.
  • You WILL burn more calories through the day. Eating smaller meals throughout the day, your metabolism is constantly burning, and in the long run, you will weight less , than compared to those that do skip out on breakfast. They best thing you can do for your health is eat your breakfast each morning, and skip the so -called breakfast foods, that aren’t real breakfast items , such as sugar filled cereals, do-nuts, ect. Those aren’t real foods. Eat wholesome breakfast items that are going to give your body all that it deserves.

Healthy doses to keep that flu at bay

I know that the colder months are getting ready to settle in, and one thing I do every year is get my health to the optimal level , so I have a lower chance of catching any kind of sickness. That is one thing I truly cant stand is being sick, and with the vitamins and supplements that I take, the sickness has stayed away for the most part. There are some great healthy items that you can eat, and take to keep your immune system at the optimal level. These are some great things that I take, and they are great for your health.


  • Shitake Mushrooms- These amazing mushrooms have so many health benefits. They reduce your inflammatory proteins , and enhance your cell functions, which has shown to improve your immunity. I try to take a supplement everyday, and you can pick some great ones up at your local natural market.
  • Garlic- garlic has great anti viral and anti bacterial properties. Adding a bit to your food, or even taking garlic supplements will help with your overall immunity.
  • Edamame- These little pods are full of omega -3 fatty acids, and also help reduce inflammation. That is what causes horrible sickness is to much inflammation buildup in the body. We want to reduce it in any way that we can.
  • Green juices- I know that I go on and on about the Importance of juicing, but just getting those daily fresh vegetables and superfoods helps with keeping your immunity up, and preventing sickness. No time ? Pick up an evolution fresh drink. They are loaded with great vitamins and minerals, and my favorite is Green Devotion, loaded up with cucumber, celery, lemon, spinach. They are amazing drinks. I’m also a huge believer in the Super Elixir, which can be bought online.

Whole foods for your health are vital. I cant tell you the amount of energy I have since changing my diet. Diet has so much to do with the way you feel. You are feeding it everyday. Some great super foods that I love for those fresky winter colds and coughs are :

  • Honey- This is an amazing thing to take for a bad cough. It will literally suppress your nerve fibers that cause coughing. Add it to some hot tea, and you are go to go.
  • Peppermint is great if you have some congestion going on. We all hate that feeling of fullness in the chest. Chewing on it will help with phlegm and mucous. Hot peppermint tea is great too. Warm Tea is always great to have daily. its a healthy go to drink, and some teas provide amazing health benefits such as Green Tea. Adding in daily exercise to for at least for 30 minutes will help with immunity. Keep that flu away, and take care of of yourself everyday. Optimal health is vital , and just adding or changing some daily habits will get your health where it needs to be.
