The Best Way To Keep Energy Levels Up All Day

Summer is finally here and that means late summer nights and lots of fun. One thing that can really make you crave your bed earlier is tiring out early. Energy Levels can fluctuate up and down if you are not taking care of yourself the way you should be. If you are eating lots of sugar or drinking way too many cocktails, that can really make your energy levels linger day to day. I have a few tips on how to keep those energy levels up throughout the BEST season of the year.

DRINK PLENTY OF H2O

I can’t tell you how much hydration helps with energy levels. I can always tell when I need more water. I start to hit that late afternoon rock. I try to keep water with me all day and drink all day. I even add fruit to it so it doesn’t seem so boring. Hydration is key to any healthy lifestyle. We lose so much water just through movement alone. It doesn’t necessarily mean you have to be working out to replace water. The best thing I do is make my water each morning before walking out the door. If you are busy in the mornings, make it the night before. It will be nice and chilled for you when you wake up.

Healthy Breakfast Option

EAT A HEALTHY LIGHT BREAKFAST

I am not going to sit here and tell you that I eat breakfast every morning. I usually do a 16 hour intermittent fast. This keeps my energy levels up like no other, but that doesn’t always work for everybody. I recommend eating a light breakfast such as a healthy juice, or smoothie loaded with vitamins and antioxidants. I find that the heavier meal you eat first thing in the morning wears your energy levels down. Everyone is different so choose wisely. Avocado toast is always a great choice.

EXERCISE IN THE MORNING

I find that exercising in the morning really helps my energy levels. I truly love fitness and I feel it’s key when wanting to live healthier and happier. I feel exercise helps keep energy levels stable all day long. If you are a yoga crazy like me, that is a great start to any morning. If you are a runner, try to hit your running in the morning. I feel that exercising in the late afternoon or evening really doesn’t help keep your energy up. It makes me want to go to bed. I try to avoid any exercise late at night, especially if I have a summer fling to go to or any plans made with friends.

KEEP THE COCKTAILS TO A MINIMUM

I am the first to admit, I LOVE my wine. I really do. I just have really cut back on my cocktails. I feel at times, depending on the wine itself, that many make me feel tired early. A few have me tossing and turning at night. I don’t like not getting a good amount of sleep. I go hard through the days and I love my nights up in the summer. If I have wine, I hydrate well in between and cut back on the amount of glasses I allow myself. I actually love it. I do splurge on my vacations. Alcohol can wreak havoc on your sleep and health. Keep it balanced. You will feel so much better.

Summer is about having fun. We are avid travelers, but I love spending summer nights listening to music, hanging with my friends and family and eating amazing summer cuisine. Take care of your health and you will have loads of energy to make many more great Summer Memories.

Smoked salmon and Spinach salad


 

Salads are a hit at my house, and this smoked salmon and spinach salad makes the top of the list. It incorporates spinach , a great alkalizing green with some amazing smoked salmon, and whole grain pasta. This is a perfect recipe as a side salad, or as an entrée. Its all up to you of how you want to serve it. I have to say its delicious, and quick. You can add some kale or dulce to the spinach too. It s your preference.

  • 2 oz. smoked salmon
  • 1 cup fresh organic spinach
  • (optional) 1/2 cup organic kale or dulce
  • 1/2 cup walnuts
  • 1/2 tomato ( organic) sliced
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil and vinegar
  • @ tbsp. flaxseed optional

 

Place the greens in a large bowl. If you are adding the Kale or Dulce, make sure to blend the greens well. You do not want one type of green just sitting on the bottom. Place the cooked whole grain pasta on top. Make sure you have rinsed the pasta with cold water, and drained thoroughly.  Place the Walnuts on top , as well as the tomatoes. Slice the smoked salmon in to small pieces , and place on top. Add the flax seed and dressing on top. If you are making this , just for one person, stick  with the serving sizes. If you are making a bigger salad, for your family , or a cookout, make sure to double the ingredients. I would advise if you are making a bigger salad, to double the dressing ingredients, and let everyone add their own dressing to their salads. Many people like more dressing than others do.

This salad is full of antioxidants, as well as very alkalizing. If you would like to use a certain green to spinach, pick the one that you like best and use that.  They all taste amazing.

Strawberry and Chia Smoothie Delight


Happy Monday!

I have to share this amazing smoothie with you. It is loaded with so many vitamins, and minerals, and loaded with plenty of antioxidants that it will keep you feeling amazing all day. This  is one of my favorites because its quick and delicious. We all know how healthy strawberries are for you, and with some added chia and other great ingredients, you are sure to love this amazing delight. We all need a great morning boost, and this is the perfect way of getting that energy up, and the metabolism moving.

 

Strawberry and Chia Smoothie Delight

1 cup organic almond milk

1/2 cup strawberries chopped (organic)

2 tbsp. chia seeds

1/2 banana

mint sprig (optional)

Blend all the ingredients together in a blender. Make sure their are no chunks of fruit left in there. Place the mint sprig on top if you’d prefer. Enjoy!Strawberry & chia smoothie

3 great vitamin rich foods for mental fatigue


We all have been in situations where we have struggled with mental fatigue. Life these days are fast, and chaotic . At the end of the day, it’s not surprising that many people struggle with cloudiness in their thinking, and lack of nourishment in their bodies. Many people become so overwhelmed with day to day tasks, that it’s easy to forget to eat healthy. Here are some vitamin rich brain foods that will help with mental fatigue. 

Potassium rich foods

Potassium is known to aid in our systems as an electrolyte. It gives fluid balance to our brains, and helps with clear thinking in our heads. Grabbing a banana each morning is a great way to add in some potassium, and help with keeping our minds strong. 

Complex carbohydrates

Complex carbs are a great way to keep our body and minds nourished through out the day. Unlike simple carbs, complex carbs do not give our bodies sugar rushes, and make us crash at the end of the day. Complex carbs is great fuel for our bodies . If it’s a good bowl of steel cut oats, or vegetable pasta, or quinoa, it is full of fiber, and does not make our bodies crave sugar foods. It’s amazing how you will feel once you take out any bad carbohydrates. The simple carbs are unneeded. They will not benefit your body in any way. Iron rich foods 


It is not a good idea to gravitate towards red meat every day , but giving your body a good source of iron helps with energy levels , and helps stave off fatigue in the brain. Raw foods such as good healthy greens , such as spinach or Aragula is a great source of iron. Preparing a good healthy salad with rich vegetables is a great way to get your iron levels up. 

Proper daily functioning is imperative to get through our days with good mental clarity . We lack ourselves in our health when we have poor thinking , making poor decisions, and creating a fatigue that can start in our brains, and affect every aspect of our days , including our happiness. It’s vital we eat healthy to maintain good mental health.

The great morning boost.. Aloe Herbal Elixir

Aloe Vera has long been around for many years, and it’s such a natural product , that the gel is used to combat many skin issues. Aloe Vera gel contains many health plant compounds, and not only helps with skin issues, but also has known to help lower blood sugar levels in diabetics. 

This morning elixir is amazing, and I just tried it this weekend , after reading Mindbodygreen. We all know that taking a probiotic is so important when it comes to gut health, due to the fact that it’s the most important component in our immune system. It’s known that a poor living lifestyle such as stress overload, poor diet, pollution, toxin build up and so much more can push our health down the drain. Aloe Vera has long been known to help improve our stomach and kidney health, and adding in aloe Vera gel is a great way to keep our guts healthy and stabilized. 

Here is a wonderful morning drink that is not only healthy , but quite delicious, loaded with antioxidants, and plenty of vitamins. 1 tsp fresh aloe Vera gel


1 tsp turmeric

1/2 tsp marshmallow root powder

1/2 oz. Apple cider vinegar 

8 0z. Warm water 

Add all the ingredients into hot water, and shake well.
