The 4 amazing superfoods you need to be eating

You hear in the nutrition world everyday about “superfoods”. They are even adding in “superfoods” to the beauty products to add more benefits for your skin. I truly believe in them when it comes to your diet, and the way you eat. 

In my view, whole foods to me are superfoods. The ones that protect, benefit your health to a superb standard. The foods that can be added in on a daily basis to your meals, smoothies, juices, and so forth. I have a whole list of superfoods that I swear by, and live on daily. These superfoods include spinach, collard greens, kale, Aragula, and many more. I use these greens as my base. They are what ties all my juices and smoothies together. There are four though that I really feel benefit our health on the cellular level, due to their antioxidant level, as well as their vitamin and mineral levels. 

Dark Chocolate

Dark chocolate has so many antioxidants. Just eating one small piece a day has been known to decrease cholesterol, decrease diabetes, and helps protect our hearts. It also has fiber in it, and will help is feel full longer. It’s best to give yourself a small treat a day. 


Kiwi 

Kiwi has a been around for ages as one of the best fruits for your health. I love it because it has a high water content, and adds such a delicious taste to any smoothie or juice. It’s loaded with vitamin C, among other antioxidants. Removing the ends, you can even eat the skins. Kiwi and dark chocolate are the perfect duo. 


Avocado

I can’t get enough of avocados. I truly feel on some days, I eat them too much. I add them to everything, including my juices. You would think it wouldn’t taste good, but it taste amazing. It’s creamy, and loaded with vitamin C, fiber, potassium, and monosaturated fats. It adds so many health benefits. It’s best to add this to your everyday diet. 


Red peppers

These amazing vegetables are packed full of vitamin C, and great for any sinus problems. They are great added in to your salads, casseroles, sandwiches, and even soups. This is one amazing superfoods in my book. 


Try to add these in every day. You will be adding so many health benefits to your health, and keeping your health at an optimal level.

5 great ways to stop binge eating

Binge eating is on the rise, and according to reports , its highest in the coldest months of the year. One of the reasons bring that the colder months leave a lot of people in doors more often, prompting people to binge on fatty , artery clogging foods that we shouldn’t be eating.

Binge eating is defined as eating halfway healthy, then on and off , you eat fat filled food. Binge eating can occur too when you have had too much intake of alcohol, which prompts you too crave fat filled food due to dehydration.

Binge eating has also occurred with people who are under a great deal of stress, suffering from depression, feeling overworked and tired out, psychological stress due to childhood problems, and so much more.

  • Eat breakfast daily.

Studies have shown that people who skip on breakfast get more hungry through out the day , resulting in more body weight , have a higher insulin level, have a higher percentage of diabetes. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It helps with better concentration and focus with our jobs and school, and provides our bodies with more energy. 

  • Pick healthy snacks over fat filled snacks.

It’s real easy to get hungry and grab a donut or a candy bar. When we pick these kind of snacks for our bodies, it does nothing but make us more hungry and crave more sugar. Pick the healthier options such as fruits or vegetables, or even yogurt and fruit. The best way to do this is to clean out your fridge and pantry and get rid of all the bad food options. 

  • Pick small saucers or plates for your meals.

I know that it’s normal to grab a normal size dinner plate for your meals. If you are one that is having problems with binge eating, try grabbing a smaller plate or saucer to eat meals. It will give you smaller servings and you will know when you are feeling full. Believe me .. It works! 

  • Move your body and exercise

When we move our body and exercise our bodies, it elevates our moods, makes us feel more focused, and in return takes out mind off of eating. According to many studies, binge eating occurs to when people feel bored. It’s all in the mind. When we exercise, our body craves healthier food options. It elevates the serotonin in our brains, and turns on that appetite suppression button that makes our minds want the crappy food. Exercise does wonders for bodies, minds, and spirits. 

  • Reduce alcohol consumption

We have all been here. The nights of going out and partying it up, and making a late night stop at your favorite fast food joint, only to wake up the next morning and feel like complete crap. Alcohol makes our bodies crave fatty food. If you know you are going out, hydrate well and eat healthy before going out. Binge drinking results in a lot of binge eating. Take it easy on the liver , and hydrate , hydrate, hydrate.

My Top Three favorite Organic Wines

Wine has always been known as a luxury drink, embraced with the delicious taste of fermented grapes, paired with an amazing meal. These days , it more than just luxury, it’s healthy. 

With fermentation, due to the chemical imbalance, most reds are made without the addition of sugar, but it doesn’t mean that all wines are the best wines. Some wines are made cheaply, and can have some sugar added for a sweeter taste. If you are choosing to buy a bottle of wine under $10, it may not be the best. 

I’m in multiple wine clubs that select the top wines from California, and they all are amazing. Most bottles retail for $22-$35 , and you can tell. The taste of a good bottle of wine is rich and delicious with no bitterness. I’ve had years of trying, tasting, and learning of wines, and I can tell when a wine is made cheaply. I do have bottles that are made organic, and I absolutely love them. You can drink a bottle , and not get a headache, and the taste stays wonderful. Below are my three favorite organic wines.

Chateau Maris- this wine is absolutely delicious. It is made organic, and has a lemon , honeysuckle taste. This is perfect for a summer night. 

Cooper mountain- this wine is rich and sultry in taste and organic. It has a great pairing with a steak and salad . There is absolutely no bitterness to this one. 

Quivira- great organic wine that is perfect for the summer, and has a bit of cranberry taste to it. This is great paired with a good salad.

Rev up your energy with B vitamins 

We all know how important B vitamins are to our health. Whether you take them in pill form, liquid form , or get them mainly from your daily diet is important. B vitamins are usually found in unprocessed whole grains, which include legumes, leafy greens, chili peppers, ect.

B vitamins are water soluble , so therefore need to consumed regularly because of the constant excretion of the vitamin. More and more people are deficient in certain vitamins, and many could benefit from a B vitamin  or in take of more vitamin B rich foods. Those people who are dealing with different types of stress , or those who are trying to shed weight , and may be trying to restrict calories, need to add a vitamin B addition to their diet to prevent fatigue and low energy.

 Vitamin B is also important for cellular energy. This is the vitamin that plays a major role in your energy, and how you feel on a daily basis. It , along with vitamin B6 , is needed to keep your red blood cell production up to par, and not to mention healthy nails and hair. If you are pregnant , or planning on pregnancy, this is another reason getting enough vitamin B is important. To keep mood swings, high stress, and fatigue at bay, it’s very important to get enough of this vitamin daily. If you are one that doesn’t like to take supplements, try adding vitamin B enriched foods to your diet, and pick out ingredients that is high in this vitamin. You will be doing your health a world of good, not to mention feeling better , with better energy daily.

Rejuvenation salad

H ladies! 

It’s so easy to get off of the track during the holidays with cocktails, cookies, and all the Christmas baking being passed around, and the sugar flowing. It’s also so easy to think your eating healthy when you go to a restaurant and order a salad, only to know that salad is probably filled with tons of calories, and bad fats. It’s so funny to see sometimes the salads you order in restaurants, when they come loaded with croutons, fatty dressings, and so much more. 

I have included a great salad that is loaded with vitamin C, and fiber, and great protein. This is one of my favorite salads, and it’s an easy salad to prepare before hand if you are on the go. I call it the rejuvenation salad, because it actually makes you feel that way. 

2 cups arugula 

1 cup chopped strawberries 

1 sliced avocado

( optional) 1 cup organic chicken breast sliced 

1/3 cup balsamic vingerette 

( optional) 1/3 cup almonds
