Winter is a real pain when it comes to keeping your skin glowing. The dryness in the air and lack of moisture can wreak havoc on everything from your skin, to your hair and more. There are great ways to always keep your skin glowing in this frigid air, but more importantly, what we put in our bodies helps a great deal in keeping our skin nice and supple. My top foods for keeping winter glowing skin:
*walnuts- this amazing nut is loaded with antioxidants and omega 3 fatty acids. It in return, stimulates collagen in our skin, helping us maintain that glow throughout the season. Adding these nuts to salads, muffins, and even your morning oatmeal, is a great way of reaping the benefits.
*dark chocolate- I’m not saying to go out and buy a snicker bar. That’s the type of chocolate to stay away from, as it’s loaded up with sugar and preservatives. Try picking a bar up from your natural food market that has atleast 70 percent cacao . This reduces moisture , keeps skin hydrated, and improves your skins overall texture.
*cherries- cherries slows down the aging process all together, and they are full of antioxidants. Adding these to your smoothies, or even topping your oatmeal is great.
*tomatoes-tomatoes are full of lycopene, which helps in keeping acne at bay. They help lower the hormone that causes acne. It’s easy to add tomatoes to anything, from dishes to salads.
* green tea- this is a wonder drink. Been around for centuries, drinking 3-5 glasses a day lower levels of DHT. It’s loaded up with antioxidants and helps keep the skin subtle, and glowing.
We all have busy , hectic schedules now days, and it’s so hard to head to the gym in the morning, and with errands, and appointments, it’s sometimes hard to head home, and spend an hour getting makeup on , and getting ready. Before you know it, you look at the clock , and realize it’s almost lunch time. I just want to add in some great items I carry along with me, to add to my regimen that is easy, and will give you that glow on the go. Glossier, a wonderful skincare company gave me the inspiration for this post, which by the way sells amazing products, which can be shopped at https://www.glossier.com/amazing beauty products
I usually keep these in my bag when I head to the gym, and once I shower, I use these items in about 5-7 minutes. I’m good to go from there , when I have stuff to do.
One great item that I love and swear by is the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer. This item is wonderful, and literally gives your skin that dewy look without applying an ounce of foundation. It has great color to it. I always use the smashbox photo finish primer water, which. I spritz on after my moisturizer. It feels great, and has a great smell to it. Then to top it off, I use Burts bees Chapstick, which I’m so addicted to. Especially in the cold, it’s good to keep Chapstick on your lips to prevent chapping. I always add a tint of lip gloss to the top, which I love Sephora buxom lipgloss.
If you are ever super busy, and heading to the gym, keep a small bag in your car with some great skin essentials to hold you over , until your errands are done. It will definitely save you time.
If you love makeup , then you would love Charlotte Tilbury makeup of all kinds. I recently just tried her eye shadow, and wow am I loving it. Her makeup is made of such great quality, that the eye makeup stays on for hours. Her eye shadow comes in amazing colors as well.
I recently had the chance to watch one of the finest makeup artist , Hrush Acheman , in her makeup tutorial, and Charlotte Tilbury is used quite frequently by Hrush, so I had to see if the buzz on her products were as great as I’ve been told. They are really one of the best up there along with finest of Makeup forever, and Tarte, and benefit. Her name is not heard of a lot , but you better believe it will be everywhere soon.
I’m a stickler with foundations, and am very picky. The foundations are suppose to be just as amazing, and that is next on my list to try. It’s always best to apply a really great eye primer first, before applying any shadow. The shadow does a lot better on a primer, and doesn’t crease, nor disappear during the days. I have used multiple eye shadows by many different brands, and I have to say , there are good ones and bad ones. Charlotte Tilbury will be one of my favorites for a long time. If you ever have the chance to try out her products, please do so. You will not be disappointed.
I have to share with you one of my great finds that I actually ordered after hearing about it at the makeup workshop I attended recently. The rave on this brush was so remarkable, that I had to find out for myself. I ordered mine from Www.lilumia.com, and it retails for $60. A lot of times when you do your makeup, switching your makeup blenders gets a bit overwhelming, because you don’t want to use the same blender for your makeup& and your concealer. This has really helped with that problem. This brush you can use for your makeup , and save your makeup beauty blender sponges for your concealer. The work gets a whole lot easier with this brush. It’s the first ever automatic makeup brush that works with any type of foundation that you choose, whether it’s liquid, cream, or even powder. This is a great tool that works on makeup, like the other devices such as clarisonic works on cleansing. It’s very innovative for the makeup business, and I particularly love the way it applies your makeup. You put a small amount of your makeup on the brush , and it blends everything for you, getting the most clean cut look in your makeup. It doesn’t cause streaking, and gives you a full coverage look. It doesn’t make your foundation clump, and the blending really gives your makeup a flawless look. Some people may not want to spend the money on this device, but I can say that it is totally worth it. It has a rotating direction, to give the best blend in your makeup.
We all want gorgeous skin.. Right? We buy things, mix things, use things to get it where we want it. Do you know the worst thing for our skin is Stress? Yes stress. Stress is the culprit to many of things that go wrong with our body, but our skin is a huge one. I’ve done past posts on dealing with stress, making me time, relaxation techniques, and so forth. If you are dealing with stress in any way,, do some things to salvage it , because in the long run, stress is your enemy. Skin and stress do not go hand in hand. If you are use to having a great complexion, and all of a sudden you realize that you are experiencing breakouts, look at your stress levels. Stress can cause a inflammatory hormone, cortisol, which causes horrible vessel constriction. When this happens, less blood flow gets to the skin. Some things that you can do , is keeping the pores super clean, with using a mask ( check for allergies). This keeps oil at bay. If you need to treat a spot , or an area of the skin, a good acne spot treatment is advisable. If you feel that you have tried some strategies for less stress, and you still feel as if your breakouts aren’t getting any better, that’s when I would look into seeing a dermatologist. The last thing you want to do, is get to the point where you have damaged your skin. A gentle cleanser is always helpful. A lot of cleansers out there are harsh, and can do more damage than good. Try to stick to a well -balanced diet with lots of fruits and veggies, and look for any underlying allergies that you may have. Sometimes we may not know , but we could be eating things with an allergen in it, and it could cause breakouts. A great product that is out now, is the Quasar MD blue. This is a wonderful product, and is a very safe and gentle home device that relies on LED light to tackle skin problems. Its great how many awesome things are coming out now , so that you can use in the comfort of your own home. The last thing you want to do is dry your skin out with drying, harsh products. Instead of benzoyl peroxide products, and salicylic acid, use natural products such as tea tree oil, or basil leaf. You will see such a difference. Good skin and a good diet go so well together. We all want gorgeous skin right? We can have it!
