Healthy Tips to get through the Holidays

The holidays are a time to celebrate another amazing year, and to count our many blessings. The holidays are one of my favorite times of the year. I love the parties, wrapping, baking, drinking, and celebrating . The list can go on. One thing that is hard at times is keeping our balance through it all, and trying to avoid the crash that can happen due to all the chaos, and all the calories that we can accumulate. Here are some great tips to help you with the holiday stress

-For an all day pick me up, try to add some citrus to your day. It can be using an essential oil of orange, or even adding a bit of citrus to your tea. It is so uplifting and can help with alleviating holiday stress.
-Try to start your day with exercise. If that is doing yoga in your living room first thing in the morning, or heading to the gym for some weight lifting, it helps tremendously. I hit the gym every morning, and I couldnt imagine not doing it . My days are so much more relaxing after a workout.
-Do less and enjoy your days more. We try to get everything done too quick. we try to get our shopping done, wrapped, christmas cards sent out, family photos, and baking done quickly . For many its about having all these things to do, and everytime we get one done, it frees time up. Well the whole point of the holidays are to RELAX AND ENJOY. Take one day at a time and make a list of the things you want to do that day. The whole point is to enjoy the “holiday cheer”. We dont want to cram our days up, and miss the joy of all of it.
-Stick with your routine- Try to prioritize your days, and don’t do anymore than you can handle. If you want to take a day out to go to lunch rather than do something you “feel” you need to be doing, do it.
-Forget Perfection -We all want everything to be prefect in our daily lives, and we want everything to go as easy as possible. The world is not going to fall apart if it doesn’t. I see more and more people living under a radar, and thinking that if something is out of place or not put back exactly like it was that their world will fall apart. IT WILL NOT. Life is too fast these days, and sometimes its best to slow down and enjoy the music. Don’t sweat the small stuff.
-Start traditions. Traditions are so fun to do . You can look back and remember doing the things you love with your family. Its never too late. We have always had the tradition of heading to mass Christmas eve, and then coming home and letting our kids open one gift of their choice, then we sit up and watch A white Christmas. We have been doing that for years, and we love it.
– try to go tech free for a few days. The phone can drive you nuts to an extent. It can be just taking up your energy. It gets so monotonous, and its best to take a break from it . It gives you a mental beak, and you will realize that you are wasting energy and time on it. There is SO much more to do.
-Try to eat healthy during the days, and splurge a bit in the evening. If you know that you are heading to a gathering, then try to eat healthy that day. When the night comes, you can splurge a bit on wine and appetizers. Its all about balance. If you know that you ate too much the night before, get up and get in the gym or head to workout. you will feel so much better. The pounds will stay away too.
-Try to stay hydrated. For every glass of wine you have, drink a glass of water. It keeps you stay hydrated and feel better the next morning. Drinking wine or any other alcoholic drink can dehydrate you.

Its all about balance and being mindful. We all want to enjoy the holidays to the fullest. Try to just spend the holidays being stress free. Its so much more enjoyable. pexels-photo-239466


Relaxation.. Everyone needs it.

Hi Ladies! 

We hear the word relaxation, and I’m sure a lot of you laugh when you hear that word. Many people seem to not get any ” me” time due to the hectic lifestyles we live. It’s not going to be given to us, so it’s very important that we make it. 

I know your thinking there is no way you can make it, but I promise you can. It can be simply of taking 10 minutes to take a hot bath, or 30 minutes to take a short walk. I love playing tennis on the weekends, and I maintain that every weekend. A wine night out with the girls never hurt either. Statistics show that stress over load or what they call burn out will wreak havoc on our bodies and health. It’s apparative we make ” me ” time. 

Stress is such a huge factor in what causes many diseases and ailments. Meditation is a wonderful way to take 10 minutes of “me” time. I have many amazing meditation podcasts that I love. Stress overload can cause high blood pressure, obesity , and heart problems among other things. Take time for yourself. I can’t stress the importance. My favorite way to unwind is watching a great movie with my family and having a good glass of Pinot. We weren’t put on this earth to never take time for ourselves. We have to take care of ourselves before we can take care of everyone else. When we enjoy what we are doing, everything is balanced. Who said Laughter didn’t help stress levels. Laugh every chance you can get. Your heart and health will appreciate it. 


5 ways to Banish Fatigue and Increase Your Energy

Energy can be hard to come by on some days. We have all had days where we feel a bit fatigue, and our energy levels are drained. I have had days where around 3 pm, I’m ready for a nap. When this was happening, I went to my doctor. I found that my Magnesium levels were low. I instantly started taking magnesium supplements, and my energy soared. Energy drain is not fun. It can be harder to concentrate, stress levels increase, and it makes our heart rate increase.

Here are 5 great ways of banishing your fatigue, and increasing your energy :

  1. Increase your Magnesium Intake for energy – Many of us do not realize that we are low on magnesium. Taking a supplement can make a world of difference in our energy levels. Magnesium is needed for 300 biochemical reactions in our body. When we have low magnesium levels, it can slow all the processes in our body down. If you feel you do not want to take a supplement, you can add magnesium filled foods to your diet, such as almonds, cashews, and fish such as halibut. It is very important to contact your doctor if you are feeling fatigue.

  2. Always eat a hearty breakfast- your breakfast should be healthy and filling in the morning. It will keep you fuller through out the day, and keep your energy levels up as the day goes on. It should include healthy choices as yogurt with fruit, egg whites with avocado, or a great green juice filled with plenty of vitamins and antioxidants. People that skip breakfast usually eat more through out the day, and have lower energy levels.

  3. Get the body moving- I CAN NOT stress this enough. Exercise changes you as a whole. It makes you healthier, more vibrant, less stressed, more energy, and the list goes on. Exercise keeps all of our organs detoxified, and working so much more better. It is not good to not add some sort of exercise to your daily regimen. It is a proven statistic that people who exercise have less stressful lives.

  4. Start using Stress relievers- I am a huge advocate of meditation. I always hit up a meditation class, and find 30 minutes every day to gather my thoughts, and find a place of peace and calm. Stress and being over worked can cause exhaustion like no other. Stress results in anxiety and anxiety can use up all of our energy with in minutes. Its very important to find stress relievers to help on a daily basis. I love hot yoga and meditation so much. I love listening to calming music while I blog. I’m huge on meditation podcasts also. If you can’t find a good meditation class, a podcast is always great.

  5. Limit your alcohol intake- Alcohol can wreak havoc on your energy levels like no other. Its ok to have your occasional glass of red wine at dinner time. The biggest problem is drinking more than enough. Your system breaks down over a period of time, and will cause excessive fatigue. Getting up in the morning after over drinking will get harder and harder. Our liver’s can only handle so much. How do you usually feel the next day after drinking too much in one night? It gets worse and worse. Limit your glasses to 1-2 a week. You liver will appreciate it.

Magnesium is such an important part of maintaining a healthy immune system. It is a vital mineral that the body needs to cooperate at a optimal level. It keeps the heart healthy, helps regulate the blood, and gives us the energy we need to get through our days. This mineral is a huge component in balancing out the calcium intake in our body.   2. Are you under a high amount of stress? Stress causes the fight or flight in your body. A  lack of magnesium can cause stress levels to rise, and cause a severe case of anxiety also. It’s important to start exercising, meditating, or trying yoga to fight off that stress, and keep your body in a healthy state.\
  3. Do you drink more alcohol than normal? Alcohol causes many health ailments over time, but drinking a lot through the weeks can cause huge magnesium deficiency, and can wreak havoc on the kidneys. It is best to cut out alcohol through the week, or just cut back period.

If you answered Yes to these three questions, and are feeling any of the above symptoms, it is best to try to see your doctor, and talk with them about checking your levels out. This is an important mineral our body needs. Adapting to healthy living, and a healthy diet is what will get your levels back on track. Best Ways to Embrace the best Life after 40!

Hi ladies !

Age is such a fear, isn’t it? I hear people all the time , in their 40’s and 50’s, saying  things like “Back in my day, or “when I was young, talking as if they are as old as the hills. In retrospect, aging has simply changed. I feel people are living longer, working longer, and just aging differently. We will always age in numbers,  but I feel in the way we age is up to us, and no matter how old you may feel , there are some great ways to embrace the most amazing life, after the age of 40.

We are certainly using  the term “midlife ” after the 40th birthday hits, but it can be the Best time out of your whole life. This for many of people , including myself, are watching your kids growing rapidly into independent adults, and looking at the fact, that sooner or later, you will NOT be able to control every aspect of their life. Is that fearful? Well for me personally, it is, at times, simply because I know, no other way. That’s the worst part, but the BEST part is watching them growing, into confident strong minds, and knowing in your heart, that raising them with morals and values will simply make them amazing adults who will find their path, and be responsible. That’s part of the”negativity ” that happens as our kids grow older. We simply see ourselves getting older, but its a GOOD  thing ,I promise. Midlife is not the time of loss. Its actually the time of growth, and discovery. It seems at my age, I’m doing more creative transformations then I ever have, then I did when I was raising my family. I just have more “me” time now, and I’m loving  it.


This is a time to really figure yourself out, and what you are wanting in life. Is there something you have always wanted to try, or to learn? What is your purpose? This is the time to find that out. You never want to stop believing you are capable of something just because of your birth date. Its never too late to evolve. I have always been the type of person to say, If it makes you feel good, Do it. Stop caring what people think. They don’t matter anyway right? Are you really living your life for them, or for yourself? The way I see it, if they have something to judge, its because of their own insecurities. Feeling young has so much with aging. You will have more joy in doing the things that you want to do, and your attitude will be more positive. I see so many people hiding behind a persona because they have no personality, or characteristics, because they care SO much about what people say about them. Its really a pathetic way to live. BE YOURSELF!! Youth and living has so much to do with the positive mindset. Look at everything in front of you ,and all the opportunities and possibilities, and start living,

I cant tell you how I feel after walking out of church on Sundays. It’s honestly one of the BEST feelings in the world, because I leave there feeling so relaxed, and you feel like you just once again made a strong connection to your beliefs. Its best to find something spiritual, that makes you believe in something so strong. This could be going to church, or even daily meditations, or self help books. Embrace your life in a spiritual aspect. It makes everything that much more amazing.

What more do you need in your life to complete you?

I have to say I have never wanted any thing more in life, because at this moment, I have it all. I’m so beyond happy , and complete, and I think it’s because I look at what I have, and its just blessed. If you are one that thinks maybe if they had a better wardrobe, or more friends, or anything of that matter, then maybe  you really need to look at what life is truly about. Its not material. Material things are bought, but not made. Families, Health, happiness, laughter, joy are made. Those are the things that truly bring happiness. Always keep yourself honored, and always believe your instincts. You are the one that knows yourself, and you should honor that in every way. That means doing the things in life that bring you joy, and make you laugh. Laughter is the BEST medicine. Who doesn’t feel at their happiest when they are having a good time. 40 is the beginning , and if you are feeling this way at 30, then 30 is the beginning. Youth has no number.
