The Mediterranean diet filled with olive oil, fish and red wine( yes my favorite too), is really great for the brain health. The olive oil is loaded with healthy fats, as well as the fish having great omega 3’s. This diet is great for memory also.

Did you know that there is foods known as the “brainy foods”? Yes.. the reason behine it is because these foods are loaded up with a variety of antioxidants that help with better brain function through out the day, and helps the increase of blood flow to the brain. These foods are the amazing blueberries( a family favorite), raspberries, black berries, and beets.

DRINK THAT WINE

I’m not going to lie. Anyone that knows me, knows that I am the ultimate wine lover. I am currently taking a class on wine & pairings, have been offered jobs at wine bars, and own a wine cellar. I LOVE WINE! Not only that, but it has been in the news to be one of the best drinks for weight loss( yes a glass before bed), and is full of resveratrol. Resveratrol is the amazing mineral found in red grapes, and is known to activate the age-slowing Sirt1gene. It is known to rejuvenate brain function, and help with cognitive function.A great way of getting it into your diet if you are not a wine drinker, is to take 200 mg a day of the supplement.

TAKE YOUR GINKGO

Ginkgo has been known to help with brain function and cognitive function. It has been shown to alleviate signs in patients with dementia. This can also be taken as a daily supplement.

I know that the colder months are getting ready to settle in, and one thing I do every year is get my health to the optimal level , so I have a lower chance of catching any kind of sickness. That is one thing I truly cant stand is being sick, and with the vitamins and supplements that I take, the sickness has stayed away for the most part. There are some great healthy items that you can eat, and take to keep your immune system at the optimal level. These are some great things that I take, and they are great for your health.

  • Edamame- These little pods are full of omega -3 fatty acids, and also help reduce inflammation. That is what causes horrible sickness is to much inflammation buildup in the body. We want to reduce it in any way that we can.
  • Green juices- I know that I go on and on about the Importance of juicing, but just getting those daily fresh vegetables and superfoods helps with keeping your immunity up, and preventing sickness. Warm Tea is always great to have daily. its a healthy go to drink, and some teas provide amazing health benefits such as Green Tea. Adding in daily exercise to for at least for 30 minutes will help with immunity. Keep that flu away, and take care of of yourself everyday. Optimal health is vital , and just adding or changing some daily habits will get your health where it needs to be.

My Workouts! 

Hi beauties!

It’s sizzling hot where I live, so I hope you’re all protecting your skin if you’re in a hot climate right now! I wanted to write a post today on what I do before and after my workouts, because I’m here to provide motivation to get you in the best shape of your life!

I change up my workouts due to the fact that I get bored easily, and I love workouts that use muscle confusion, which gives the best toning results. Before my workout every morning, I drink a glass of warm lemon water. This gets everything moving, and I instantly feel rejuvenated. I then make a pre-workout loaded up with antioxidants. I also take my supplements at this time. Then, I tackle my workout, which consists of anything from a Kettleworx class, to a 3-4 mile workout with weight training, to hot yoga.

Some days, I’ll do a Tracey Anderson videos or just head to the gym to mix things up. Music is very important when working out. Hip hop music gets my energy roaring so I love listening to Jay Z, Kanye West, and Maroon 5.

Advantages and disadvantages of vitamins

People automatically think that if they take their vitamins on a daily basis, they are healthy. Don’t get me wrong.. You want to take your vitamins, but you also want to be safe about it and contact your doctor prior to starting vitamin supplementation. Things to remember:

The body is protected in many ways by the vitamins we consume, and if we consume less than is required , then we suffer from vitamin deficiency which can often lead to illnesses. Taking vitamins give us a kind of ” insurance” especially for people that do not follow a balanced diet. Taking vitamins along with medicine prescribed by a doctor may not be as healthy, that’s why it’s important to consult with your doctor first. One thing about vitamins is they can be costly. They can really add up, where eating healthy is alot cheaper for some. If you are not well educated on vitamin supplements , you can overdose on vitamins. You cannot overdose on the food you eat. If overdosing occurs, the vitamins are only going to be flushed from your system. Please take under your doctor if you are not educated.
