Traveling is so fun , and when doing it , it’s important to make a list of all the essentials that you need so that you are fully prepared for your flight, and it’s more comfortable for you. The most annoying thing about a flight is when you are tired and forgot your head rest or super cold and are short a blanket. Who likes that ? I have many items that I pack with me for my flights and I feel some of these things could come in handy for you also.
Evian Facial Mist – This is perfect for long flights and literally gives your skin some freshness. This is the perfect mist to throw in your bag and use through out your flight. Long flights can make your skin so dry, and in return can make your skin itch and flare up. Keep the skin moisturized and fresh through out your flight.
Hydrating Crème- I like to keep hydrating crème on hand for applying to my skin through out the flight. It keeps your facial skin in tact and will feel so much better once you land. A great Hydrating crème that I love is Ole Hendrickson Nurture Me crème. This is the bomb. It has such a great consistency to it and makes your skin feel like a million dollars.
Travel Pillow – This is a MUST! Traveling without a pillow is a pain. You will get tired or want to be relaxed, and not having a headrest is so uncomfortable. This also reduces strain on your neck. Great travel pillows can be found at Amazon Prime . They have many different ones to pick from.
Traveling is so fun, but if you are flying for a long period of time, it’s best to feel as comfortable as possible. This means making a list of some things that will make your flight most comfortable.
I wanted to do a travel post for you on the beautiful Napa Valley, California. I have had many emails asking where we stayed, what to do, and the best restaurants. I thought it would be wise to share it all with you , and that way you have all the important information that you need. When you decide to travel to this destination, it can be overwhelming deciding where to stay. I’m not sure with the bad fires that they have had, what is still open or being reconstructed. It all just makes me sad thinking about it. We stayed at the beautiful 5 star Bardessano hotel and spa. I can’t tell you how beautiful and amazing it was. Every single aspect about the place was impeccable. The service, the menus , the restaurants, the rooms. We stayed in one of the best rooms and it was furnished with our own private patio, and had the turn down service which was so nice. We had our own private out door shower, and massage tables for our own private in room massages. They had chocolate covered strawberries with champagne for us when we got there. Yes I did devour them immediately. The workout room was outside, and right next to our room. It was very private with only two rooms adjoining the workout facility. The pools had views like no other. The Spa itself was divine. Did I mention their hot rock massage is out of this world? Besides the fact that we fell in love with the place, the service is at your beck and call. We will always stay at Bardessano. If you are new coming to Napa, it is encouraged to hire a driver to take you to all the popular wineries, or rent a car and get a list before hand. We drove into Sonoma, and We stayed in Yountville. We had a driver for the day, and she took us to three amazing wineries, but then we drove to Sonoma, and then to Sausilito.
The Auberge du Soleil was the most magnificent place we ate at. The views are out ofthis world, and according to people that we talked with, it has the Best views from anywhere. We had dinner there, and had the most amazing table overlooking all of Napa. The wine was amazing, and the food was rated higher than a 5 in by book. It is hands down amazing. We shopped a lot in Younsville, and they do have some pretty amazing boutiques. We got up every morning and worked out, then had a light breakfast, and took a bike ride. We are pretty early risers, so seeing the sun come up was so beautiful.
We decided to drive over on day to Muir Woods, and hike a bit. We had been there already, but at different times in season. It is always so beautiful to walk in that place. The trees and nature are seriously breathtaking. We traveled over to sausilito one day and had lunch in the gorgeous little town. They were having a great wine fest when we were there, so I had to try some amazing Chardonnay when we were there. I wish I could tell you all each and every detail, but we were so busy when we were there, and I can’t stick every detail in, as I would be writing this for two hours. All I can say is Napa is really one of the most beautiful places on Earth.
I’ve been wanting to do a post for a while now on my recent trip to New York, but wanted to make sure that I had everything in it that I wanted you to know. If you are planning a trip to NYC, then I am so glad you are reading this. This was probably one of the Best trips I’ve taken recently , just for the simple fact I was with my kids. We had an ultimate blast and can’t wait to get back.
Even though I have been before, it seems each time you go back to the same destination , there is always something new to see , or just new things to do. We took in many sights, museums, ate amazing food, went to great Broadway shows , and I wish I could fit all my amazing photos in to this one post. I just wanted to give you some insight of some great things to do and see if you have a chance to visit.
I’m going to start with food. Who doesn’t love taking in the great food NYC has to offer. Everywhere you turn, there is food, and it’s good food. We ate at so many amazing places, by I just can’t fit them all in to my post. I have to start out with the amazing STK Steakhouse. If you ever have a chance to go, you need to. It’s got a great vibrant atmosphere , and the food is divine. It’s a great place to take the family. Rolling into little Italy, we couldn’t make our minds up on where we wanted to eat. Every little place looks adorable. After about 30 minutes, we decided on Cafe Napoli. I’m so glad we did! The wait staff was remarkable, and did I mention they have the best Tortellini Romano? Of course now I’m going to move on to where we stayed. We stayed at the Waldorf Astoria. The hotel was just fabulous, and the service was remarkable. The rooms are spacious, and they have the best restaurants inside , including the Bull and Bear Prime Steakhouse. The breakfast there is amazing . My daughter and I even had afternoon tea at Lachine. They are so accommodating. I had to venture over to TriBeCa one day to take in some shopping and sights. I have to race about the TriBeCa spa of tranquility. This spa was voted one of the best spas around the globe, and I can see why. It was adorable. The staff was wonderful, and their services were amazing. The European facial and their signature massage was the ultimate. TriBeCa is lovely as well. I can’t cover everything we seen, because we did ALOT! Central Park is always a gorgeous place to visit or take a walk. The day we visited, you couldn’t of asked for a more beautiful scenery. It’s always wonderful to visit this an amazing city, and have the ultimate fun. If you ever have a small weekend or a vacation coming up, NYC is a great get away.
I’ve never been a vodka lover. It may be because my love has always been for wine. I recently just got back from Chicago, and tried one of the greatest spritzers ever, and yes it included vodka! It’s okay to have a cocktail every now and then right? I recently stumbled upon a great website recently where I seen a wonderful, refreshing recipe for a lemonade vodka mix. The wonderful website Epicurious, has some amazing recipes. I asked the bartender in Chicago if he could try to make it without the sugar added, and he did! Viola! I have to say it was pretty amazing. It was so tasty, that I have to share the recipe with you. This is a great recipe for parties, cookouts, or even to make yourself on a hot summer night. This recipe will fill six- 8 oz. glasses. I did not add the sugar to my drink, as it calls in this recipe, but was still amazing.
1 cup packed mint leaves
2/3 cup packed sugar
1 cup fresh lemon juice
1 1/2 cups vodka
Combine the chopped mint & sugar in a bowl with the vodka. Cover and refrigerate for atleast 30 min. Strain the mixture into a pitcher. Fills 6 8oz. glasses with crushed ice. Pour mixture over. Garnish with the mint leaves. This is one refreshing drink.
Summer is a time when it’s the best way to get the whole family out of the house at the same time. Atleast that’s the way mine is. As my kids get older, time is scarce. We have camps, sports, practices, ect. Summer travel can be hectic if not organized and planned in advanced. I’m not saying that the spontaneous trips aren’t fun, but if you are planning on traveling by plane, leaving the country, ect., it’s best to be very organized.
- Check your passports 4 months ahead of time.
Have you ever had plans to leave the country, and you go to get your passports ready and realize that they are expired? You find yourself paying triple amounts to get them expedited. I’m not going to lie, it’s happened to me. Make sure to check them in case they need updated.
- Always have your confirmation numbers with you .
This is always easier and will keep you more prepared when checking in, especially out of the country. It will give you peace of mind.
- Pack light only with necessities
When you travel, it’s easy to want to take everything in sight. That only makes for more chaos. Pack only the necessities. There is no need to pack unwanted items that will probably never get touched. You can get on Pinterest, and find a great travel list.
- Take the essential items to make your plane ride comfortable.
When traveling in a plane, I despise being cold. They always keep planes so cold, and your miserable the whole way if your uncomfortable. Take a pillow and a extra blanket for those chilly plane rides.
- Packing a lot ? Check your bag weight
I can’t tell you how many times I pack for a trip , and we get up to check our bags, and they weigh too much. Make sure you haven’t packed the non essentials. If you are going on a two week trip, remember to always pack just what you need.
